Wolfpack tennis team edges East Central 5-4
DECATUR – The Co-Lin's men's tennis team rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 5-4 win over East Central in Decatur on Thursday. The Wolfpack (3-1) travel to Holmes Community College on Tuesday, March 20, with matches beginning at 1 p.m.
"With the men's match on the line, Tripp Wyatt won a third set tiebreaker 10-8 after being down 1-4," said tennis coach Brenda Smith. "His win decided the match."
The Wolfpack only one of three doubles matches. At No. 1, Sebastian Osorio and Juan Pablo Pinilla of Co-Lin defeated Tom Langlarr and Joseph Jabour 8-2. East Central's Willie Wooten and Landon Gibson defeated Co-Lin's Tripp Wyatt and Braden Ishee 8-5 at No. 2, and Emontie Lewis and Jake Wofford defeated Matthew Scoville and Tripp Case 8-6 at No. 3.
The battle at No. 6 singles proved to be the most exciting and won the match for the Wolves as Wyatt defeated Isaac Keen 6-0, 6-7 (3-7), 10-8. At No. 5, Co-Lin's Ishee lost a heartbreaker to Gibson 2-6, 7-5, 10-2. East Central's Jabour took care of Co-Lin's Scoville 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
The Wolfpack picked up wins at No. 1 with Osorio defeating Langelaar 6-4, 6-1, No. 2 as Pinilla beat Wooten 6-2, 6-1, and Case took care of Lewis 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4.
