Co-Lin netters upset No. 11 Marion Military
MERIDIAN – The No. 19 Co-Lin Wolfpack upset No. 11 Marion Military 5-4 in tennis action Monday in Meridian. The Wolfpack two of three doubles matches and three of six singles matches to get the win.
"Marion is a tough, well coached team and this was a big win for us," said tennis coach Brenda Smith. "Sebastian (Osorio) absorbed his first loss of the season at No. 1 singles. Juan Pablo (Pinilla), Tripp Case, and Tripp Wyatt had to step up. The critical match of the day was a No. 3 doubles as they won the tiebreaker."
In doubles action, Sebastian Osorio and Juan Pablo Pinilla defeated Daniel Boussom and Connor Higginbotham 8-6 at No. 1. Tripp Case and Tripp Wyatt won a nail-bitter defeating Isaiah Polk and Vance Llewellyn 9-8 (7-5) at No. 3.
In singles action, Pinilla defeated Chris Lee 7-5, 7-6 (5) in a tie breaker at No. 2. At No. 4, Case beat Kai Tougas 6-3, 7-5. Co-Lin's Wyatt defeated Llewellyn 7-5, 6-1 at No. 6 singles to clinch the match.
The Wolfpack travel to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Wednesday with matches beginning at 1 p.m.
