Wolves pick up win over Southwest in thrilling fashion

SUMMIT, Miss. – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves picked up their first win of the year on Tuesday after battling through injuries and adversity. The match came down to the No. 4 singles matchup. Co-Lin's Toby White secured that win after falling in the first set 6-3. The sophomore bounced back with a 6-4 win in the second and took the match and the victory for the Wolves with a 10-4 win in the tiebreaker.

The afternoon started with doubles action. Braden Ishee and Ray Drane teamed up at No. 1 doubles and outplayed Southwest's Daniel Espinosa and Skyler Rasberry 8-4. Drew Nelson and Toby White played at No. 2 doubles and defeated Matthew Phillips and Luke Morgan 8-2.

In singles play, Ishee was forced to forfeit his match against Espinosa at No. 1 due to an injury. Nelson played No. 2 for the Wolves and defeated Rasberry 6-0, 6-2. Drane was the No. 3 slot for Co-Lin and he defeated Phillips 6-0, 6-3. White took the victory at No. 4 over Morgan, 3-6, 6-4 (10-4), while Jason Clayburn rounded out the team at No. 5. Clayburn fell to Southwest's Jexequil Dela Cruz 6-4, 6-7, (10-2).
