Wolves take match from Hinds

The Co-Lin Wolves remained undefeated on the season beating the Hinds Eagles 7-2 in tennis action on Friday. The Wolves are back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 2, as they host Itawamba Community College with matches beginning at 1 p.m.

Co-Lin took wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The Wolves No. 1 team of Julian Toloza/Julian Parada defeated Abraham Gonzales/Kwanda Mbalekwa 8-2. At No. 3, John Ready/Skyler Rasberry beat Justin Humphrey/Eli Sykes 8-3. The Eagles No. 2 team of Chambers Bethea/Bryce Ramshur defeated Co-Lin's Ty Nelson/Lawson Pearson 8-6.

In singles action, the lone win for the Eagles came at No. 5 singles as Jordan Paul took a heated three set match against John Ready 7-5, 4-6, 0-1. Co-Lin's No. 1 Julian Toloza took a 6-3, 6-2 win over Kwanda Mbalekwa. Julian Parada defeated Abraham Gonazales 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. At No. 3, Ty Nelson beat Justin Humphery 7-6, 6-1. Hinds' No. 4 Chambers Bethea retired with the match tied at 6-all giving Lawson Pearson the win and Skyler Rasberry beat Bryce Ramshur 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6.

"I am very proud of our men's team," said Co-Lin head tennis coach Dana Hale. "They had another solid performance in doubles and singles play. I'm looking forward to our upcoming match with Itawamba on Tuesday."
