
Tennis Splits Day with Itawamba
FULTON – The Co-Lin Women's and Men's tennis teams returned to MACCC play with a visit to Fulton, matching up against Itawamba on Tuesday, February 25. The Lady Wolves picked up their first win of the season with a score of 5-4, while the men dropped their match 6-3.
The men dropped the doubles matches 2-1, with the lone win coming from Ege Altas (Istanbul, Turkey) and Jake Bucek (Geelong, Australia) with an 8-6 set score in the one doubles spot. Robert Adcock (Brookhaven, Miss.) and Tristin Rollins (Brookhaven, Miss.) dropped the two doubles match 8-4, while Mason Brand (Mantee, Miss.) and Simon Cooper (Sumrall, Miss.) dropped the three doubles match 8-5.
During singles play, Mason Brand (Mantee, Miss.) and Jax Leggett (Bogue Chitto, Miss.) picked up the remaining two wins for the Wolves with 6-4, 6-4 set scores for Mason in the four singles spot and a 6-2, 7-5 win for Leggett in the six singles spot.
In the women's doubles contests, the Lady Wolves took an early 2-1 lead with the first win coming from Georgina Labusch (Verl, Germany) and Sophie Sisson (Moss Point, Miss.) with an 8-4 score in the two doubles spot. Ann-Clark Van (Jayess, Miss.) and Allie Grace McNeill (Brookhaven, Miss.) sealed the other win, 8-5, in the three doubles match.
The Lady Wolves and Lady Indians split singles 3-3, with notable wins coming from Georgina Labusch (Verl, Germany) (6-0, 6-0) in the three singles, Sophie Sisson (Moss Point, Miss.) (6-3, 6-1) in the four singles, and Ann-Clark Van (Jayess, Miss.) (6-2, 6-3) in the five singles. Bello and McNeill dropped their respective singles matches.
Both Wolves and Lady Wolves move to 1-3 (1-2) on the season. The teams continue conference play on Friday, February 28, at 10:00 a.m., hosting Southwest.
