
Tennis Sweeps Southwest
WESSON - The Co-Lin Women's and Men's tennis teams returned home, hosting Southwest, continuing MACCC play. Lady Wolves swept the day 9-0, while the men won 7-2 on matches during yesterday's matches.
In women's doubles matches, Lady Wolves went 3-0 with wins coming from Yariange Bello (Caracas, Venezuela) and Georgina Labusch (Verl, Germany) winning 8-2 in one doubles. Sophie Sisson (Moss Point, Miss) and Ann-Clark Van (Jayess, Miss.) also picked up the win 8-0 in two doubles.
Lady Wolves continued their dominant performance in singles play, winning all six matches 5-0. Yariange Bello (Caracas, Venezuela) took care of business in one singles with 6,1 6,1 set scores, while Georgina Labusch (Verl, Germany) won her sets 6,0 6,1. Sophie Sisson (Moss Point, Miss) 6,1 6,0, Ann-Clark Van (Jayess, Miss.) 6,0 6,0, and Allie Grace McNeill (Brookhaven, Miss) all won their respective matches in three, four, and five singles to secure the 7-0 victory.
Ege Altas (Istanbul, Turkey) and Jake Bucek (Geelong, Australia) secured an 8-4 win in one doubles. Tristin Rollins (Brookhaven, Miss.) and Robert Adcock (Brookhaven, Miss.) followed with an 8-3 victory in two doubles. Mason Brand (Mantee, Miss.) and Simon Cooper (Sumrall, Miss.) completed the sweep with an 8-6 win in three doubles.
In singles play, the Wolves took four out of six matches. Jake Bucek (Geelong, Australia) claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win in two singles, while Robert Adcock (Brookhaven, Miss.) earned a 7-5, 6-0 victory in three singles. Simon Cooper (Sumrall, Miss.) dominated his five singles match, winning 6-0, 6-0. Jax Leggett (Bogue Chitto, Miss.) completed the Wolves' singles wins with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 victory in the six singles spot. Ege Altas (Istanbul, Turkey) came up short in one singles, and Mason Brand (Mantee, Miss.) fell in four singles.
Both the Wolves and Lady Wolves improve to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in conference and will continue MACCC play on Monday, March 4, at 2:00 p.m., visiting East Central.
