Lady Wolves total 14 hits in 8-3 win over Hinds

WESSON, Miss. – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College softball team moved to 4-6 on the year Tuesday night with an 8-3 victory over Hinds. The Lady Wolves out hit the Lady Eagles 14 to six in the bounce back win.

In the bottom of the second, Co-Lin's Alex Anthony drew a walk and stole both second and third base. The sophomore then stole home and gave the Lady Wolves a 1-0 lead early in the contest. An RBI single later in the inning form Callie Fortenberry scored Paige Hulin who also singled. Co-Lin led 2-0 going into the top of the third.

After back-to-back singles form Anthony and Hulin and a walk from Harmoni Ashley the bases were loaded for the Lady Wolves in the bottom of the fourth. Alexsundria Thomas was hit by a pitch giving Co-Lin a 3-0 lead, and Fortenberry followed with an RBI single to stretch the Lady Wolves' lead to 4-0.

Co-Lin scored another in the fifth after an error scored Anthony.

Hinds finally landed on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth after three RBI singles pushed three runs across. Going into the bottom of the sixth the Lady Wolves led 5-3. Julie Scheuermann led off with a single, and Taylor Bryant cleared the bases with a homerun to left field. Hulin drove in Co-Lin's final run with a hard hit ground ball that plated Tori Pettit.

Bailey Root was the winning pitcher for Co-Lin. She lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out three.

Lizzy Lloyd took the loss for Hinds after she lasted three innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out three.

The Lady Wolves totaled 14 hits. Hulin, Fortenberry, Anthony, and Morgan Dubose all had multiple hits for Co-Lin, while Fortenberry and Hulin each collected three hits to lead the Lady Wolves. Co-Lin stole six bases during the game. Hulin led the way with three.
