Co-Lin outlast Hinds in 4-2 win

WESSON, Miss. – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves grabbed a late lead in the fifth inning to secure a 4-2 win over the Hinds Lady Eagles. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored one run for the Lady Wolves and put Co-Lin on top. The Lady Wolves are now 5-6 on the year.

Hinds struck first in the top of the second with a sacrifice fly that scored Amelia Purdy who tripled to lead off the inning, but Co-Lin responded in the bottom of the second with an RBI single from Callie Fortenberry that plated Alexsundria Thomas who reached on a fielder's choice. Going into the third the game was tied at 1-1.

An error scored Co-Lin's Alex Anthony in the fourth after she led off the inning with a walk, and was moved to third by a Makenzie Smith double. The fortunate run gave the Lady Wolves a 2-1 advantage.

Hinds knotted the game again in the fifth with an RBI single, but once again Co-Lin bounced back in the bottom of the frame. Back-to-back singles from Tori Pettit and Taylor Bryant put two on for the Lady Wolves. An error by Hinds allowed a run to score and gave the Lady Wolves a 3-2 lead.

An RBI single from Abigail Thorton in the bottom of the sixth proved to be an insurance run for Co-Lin as the Lady Wolves secured the 4-2 victory.

Mackenzie Gros led Lady Wolves to victory in the pitcher's circle. She lasted seven innings, allowing nine hits and two runs while striking out one and walking zero.

Bryanna Luke took the loss for Hinds. She allowed two hits and two runs over four innings, striking out one.

Fortenberry went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Co-Lin in hits. The Lady Wolves were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Hulin had the most chances in the field with six.

Hinds Community College collected nine hits in the game. Purdy, Madeline Hart, and Tica Watts each racked up multiple hits for the Lady Eagles.
