Co-Lin run-rules Lady Tigers 13-0

CLARKSDALE, Miss. – The Copiah-Lincoln Community Lady Wolves got things done in five innings in game two on Sunday as a five-run fifth inning gave Co-Lin a 13-0 run-rule victory.

"Our pitchers had a really good day, allowing just eight hits in both games combined," said Lady Wolves' head coach Allen Kent. "Mackenzie Gros gave us a quality start today."

The Lady Wolves' bats were hot as the team racked up 11 hits in just five innings of play. Callie Fortenberry drove in the Lady Wolves' first run in the top of the first with a line drive that plated Paige Hulin who led off the game with a walk. Abigail Thornton drove in another later in the inning and Makenzie Smith was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the Lady Wolves third run of the inning.

Smith put down a bunt in the third to push across Thronton, and Julie Scheuermann drew a bases-loaded walk to score another for the Lady Wolves, stretching the lead to 5-0.

Alex Anthony smashed a double in the fourth that plated Taylor Bryant and Fortenberry, and a sacrifice bunt from Thornton scored Anthony.

Co-Lin's final five runs came off an RBI double from Bryant, and three straight RBI singles from Morgan Dubose, Anthony, and Thornton.

Mackenzie Gros earned the victory in the circle for Co-Lin as she allowed four hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking zero. Dubose threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Mekayla Hubbard took the loss for Coahoma. She surrendered 13 runs on 11 hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one.

Anthony, Fortenberry, Scheuermann, and Thorton each collected two hits to lead Co-Lin at the plate.
