Root earns MACJC Pitcher of the Week

WESSON, Miss. – Sophomore pitcher Bailey Root earned Pitcher of the Week honors after a stellar week in the circle for the Lady Wolves. The Silsbee, Texas native was 2-0 after throwing two complete games against Pearl River Community College and Northeast Community College.

Against PRCC she scattered four hits and gave up no runs in a 3-0 shutout. Root racked up eight strikeouts, a season high.

The Silsbee High School graduate backed that performance up with another complete game against Northeast. She gave up just two runs and fanned six Lady Tigers.

On the week Root totaled 14 strikeouts and gave up two earned runs for a 1.00 ERA.

"I am blessed to be chosen for this honor," said Root. "However, without my team behind me, I would not be able to achieve this. I'm very thankful and proud for all the hard work my team puts in."
