Lady Wolves eager to kick off 2021 campaign

Last year, the Co-Lin Lady Wolves started the 2020 season with bang knocking off the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) No. 3 ranked Des Moines Area (IA) Community College 7-6, 17-8, followed by an 8-2 win over No. 5 ranked Highland (KA) Community College. The wins shot the Lady Wolves up the national poll from just receiving votes the week before to the No. 4 team in the country.

Heading into MACJC play, Co-Lin defeated Meridian 3-2 and 19-3. The wins moved the team up one spot in the NJCAA poll to No. 3, the highest the team had ever been ranked in a weekly poll. The Lady Wolves were riding high with a 12-1 overall and a 2-0 record in the MACJC. Then their season came to a screeching as the COVID-19 pandemic hit and their season was called off.

Fast forward to 2021…the Lady Wolves are ranked No.3 in the NJCAA's preseason poll and will take the field Sunday as they host No. 16 ranked LSU-Eunice for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.

"We are excited to get this group on the field," said second year head coach Meleah Howard. "This will be our first fully recruited team since I to to Co-Lin so I'm looking forward to seeing them perform. We have a lot of power, speed, and versatility throughout our line up that we hope will put up a lot of runs. Our pitching staff has some youth, but also some experience that offers a good balance and should have us in every game. I'm just looking forward to finally getting back to playing softball. It's been a long time coming, and we are happy to get the chance to represent Co-Lin to the best of our ability every time we stop on the field."
