No. 3 Lady Wolves extend winning streak to 12 straight

WESSON– The No. 3 Co-Lin Lady Wolves extended their winning streak to 12 as they swept a doubleheader from the Meridian Community College Lady Eagles 12-4 in five innings and 5-1.  

GAME 1 |

The Lady Eagles took advantage of three first inning Co-Lin errors to take a 4-0 lead. The Lady Wolves would plate three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Shelby Maxwell (Wesson/Wesson Attendance Center) had an RBI double. Cera Blanchard (Metairie, LA/De La Salle High School) and Bela Dekovic (Belle Chasse, LA/Belle Chasse High School) had RBI singles.

Co-Lin took the lead for good in the bottom of the second inning on Carlon Brabham's (Amite, LA/Oak Forest High School) three-run home run.

In the bottom of the third inning, Co-Lin took advantage of two walks and three Meridian errors to increase their lead to 9-4.

Co-Lin added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to run rule the Lady Eagles. Madi Miller (Brookhaven/Brookhaven High School) led off the inning with a triple and scored on Brabham's RBI single. Abigail Carter (Mendenhall/Simpson Academy) reached on an error. Madalyn Wilkinson's (Madison/Germantown High School) RBI single and Dekovic's walk gave the Lady Wolves the 12-4 win.

Blanchard earned her seventh win of the season for the Lady Wolves. She allowed no runs scattered four hits, struck out two and walked one in five innings.

Brabham led the Lady Wolves at the plate with a home run and single for four RBIs. Miller tripled and singled. Maxwell doubled and singled. Adding support with a single apiece were Dekovic, Blachard, Carter, and Wilkinson.

 

GAME 2 |

The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Co-Lin would answer with five runs in the bottom of the second inning. Carter would tie the game on a Carter solo home run. A couple of Meridian errors would allow Co-Lin to score four more runs.

Bella Luckey (Mendenhall/Simpson Academy) won her sixth game of the season tossing seven innings. She gave up one earned run on five hits, struck out three and no walks.

At the plate for the Lady Wolves, Miller had a pair of singles. Maxwell tripled. Carter homered. Molly Davis (Philadelphia/Leake Academy) and Wilkinson
