WESSON – The Co-Lin Softball team returned to action hosting Shelton State on Monday, March 4. The Lady Wolves beat the Bucs with a walk-off extra inning, 4-3, win in game one while game two was cancelled due to weather.

The Bucs took advantage of a slow start for the Lady Wolves as the leadoff batter reached on an error and then later scored in the first inning resulting in a 1-0 lead. The Lady Wolves then looked to respond in the bottom of the first as they got two baserunners on with two outs, but a line out ended the inning with no scoring done.

The Bucs continued to stifle the Lady Wolves offense and then increased their lead with a single run in the fifth making the score, 2-0. The Lady Wolves once again looked to respond in the bottom of the fifth as they placed two runners on with one out, but a line out followed by a ground out ended the inning with no scoring done.

The Lady Wolves broke through in emphatic fashion with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Abby Grace Richardson (Brookhaven) and Kinley Ainsworth (Brandon) hit back-to-back singles to once again put two runners on with one out. However, this time the Lady Wolves cashed in as Zykeria Cole (Magee) took one swing of the bat and crushed a 1-0 over the left field fence for a three-run home run, her first of the season, to give the Lady Wolves a 3-2 lead.

The Bucs then tied the game with back-to-back one-out doubles in the top of the seventh making the score, 3-3. The Lady Wolves then had back-to-back singles by Carson Hughey (Brookhaven) and Madison Moak (Brookhaven) to start the bottom of the seventh.
