Reid State Technical College
WESSON – The Co-Lin Softball team opened the 2025 regular season hosting Reid State on Saturday, February 1. The Lady Wolves dominated the Lady Lions en route to a sweep taking game one 17-0 and game two 9-0.
GAME ONE
The Lady Wolves exploded out of the gate with seven runs in the bottom of the first as Brelie Phillips (Conehatta) hit a one-out single to get the offense going and then advanced to third on a double by Olivia Banes (Pelahatchie). Phillips then scored on an RBI single by Taylor Efferson while Banes and Efferson then scored on a two-RBI double by Emeri Warren (Sebastopol) making the score, 3-0. Warren then scored on an RBI single by Avery Williams (Olive Branch) making the score, 4-0.
Later in the inning, Williams stole second and then scored as Abby Burnette (Brookhaven) reached on an error. Burnette then stole second and scored on an RBI-single by Kynlee Madere (Paulina, LA) while Madere then stole second and scored on an RBI-single by Carson Hughey (Brookhaven) making the score, 7-0.
After a scoreless second inning, the Lady Wolves plated three runs as Williams and Morgan Chisolm (Madison) hit back-to-back singles to start the inning. Williams and Chisolm then scored on a two-RBI double by Burnette who advanced to third on a bunt single by Madere and then scored on a sacrifice bunt by Hughey making the score, 10-0.
The Lady Wolves scored their final seven runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth as Warren hit a one-out triple to get the offense going. Warren then scored as Williams reached on an error increasing the score to 11-0. Williams then advanced to third on a double by Chisolm and scored on an RBI-single by Burnette. After Chisolm advanced to third on a single by Madere she then scored on a sacrifice fly by Noelle Laiche (Gonzales, LA) making the score, 13-0. Burnette and Madere then scored on a two-RBI pinch-hit double by Emilie Williams (Summit) making the score, 15-0. After Stella Roberts (Raymond) drew a walk in a pinch-hit appearance, Emilie Williams stole third and then scored on an error on the play that allowed Roberts to advance to second. Roberts then scored on a pinch-hit RBI-double by Addison Lindley (Madison) making the score, 17-0.
The Lady Wolves then forced a three-up-and-three-down top of the fifth to seal the victory.
The Lady Wolves totaled 17 hits as Kynlee Madere led the way going 3-for-3 while Abby Burnette, Morgan Chisolm, Avery Williams, and Emeri Warren had two hits each. Carson Hughey, Brelie Phillips, Emilie Williams, Olivia Banes, Taylor Efferson, and Addison Lindley had one hit apiece. Burnette led the team with three RBIs while Avery Williams, Emilie Williams, Emeri Warren, and Carson Hughey had two RBIs apiece with Efferson, Lindley, Madere, and Noelle Laiche having one RBI each.
Emily Richarde (Lakeland, TN) got the start for the Lady Wolves and was dominant in the circle for her first win of the season. Richarde threw four innings of no-hit scoreless softball allowing only two baserunners via walks with nine strikeouts. Emma Kate Fimiano (Petal) pitched one inning of scoreless and hitless relief retiring all three batters she faced with two strikeouts.
GAME TWO
The second game of the doubleheader saw the Lady Wolves start the scoring off with three runs in the bottom of the first as Hughey drew a walk, stole second, and advanced to third on a single by Phillips. Hughey then scored on a passed ball while Phillips advanced on the play and then scored on a two-base error giving the Lady Wolves a 2-0 lead. Banes then drew a walk, stole second, advanced to third on an error, and scored on an RBI groundout by Efferson to increase the lead to 3-0.
The Lady Wolves then added four runs in the bottom of the third as Warren hit a leadoff single while Avery Williams followed by drawing a walk to put two runners on with no outs. Later in the inning, Warren was forced out as Emilie Williams reached on a fielder's choice giving the Lady Wolves two runners on with two outs while Madere then drew a walk to load the bases. After Avery Williams scored on a passed ball, Emilie Williams and Madere scored on a two-out, two-RBI triple by Hughey making the score, 6-0. Hughey then scored on a passed ball pushing the lead to 7-0.
The final two runs of the game came in the bottom of the fifth as Emilie Williams drew a leadoff walk, Madere reached on an error, and then Hughey drew a walk after a double steal to load the bases. Phillips then delivered a walk-off, two-RBI double scoring Emilie Williams and Madere ending the game and securing the sweep for the Lady Wolves with the 9-0 victory.
The Lady Wolves totaled seven hits as Brelie Phillips led the way going 3-for-3 while Carson Hughey and Emeri Warren had two hits each. Hughey and Phillips led the Lady Wolves in RBIs with two each while Taylor Efferson had one RBI.
Keegan McCorkle (Tyronza, AR) got the start in game two and picked up her first win of the season with another dominant performance in the circle. McCorkle pitched four no-hit, scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. Taylor Efferson pitched one inning of relief with one hit and one strikeout.
Co-Lin is now 2-0 overall and will return to action on the road against John Melvin University on Wednesday, February 12. First pitch between the Lady Wolves and the Millers is set for 1 p.m., in Crowley, Louisiana.
