
Lady Wolves Sweep Through Hinds JUCO Classic
VICKSBURG – The Co-Lin Softball team returned to action with two days of games at the Hinds JUCO Classic this weekend. The Lady Wolves went a perfect 4-0 with three ranked wins over the weekend beating No. 21 Parkland, 13-0, and Coastal Alabama – North, 10-1, on Friday, February 21 and then beat No. 2 Kirkwood, 5-0, and No. 12 LSU – Eunice, 5-3, on Saturday, February 22.

After both teams were retired in order in the first inning, the Lady Wolves scored a single run in the top of the second. Avery Williams (Olive Branch) got the offense started with a leadoff single. Williams then took second and third on two straight passed balls while Kynlee Madere (Paulina, LA) drew a walk to put two runners on with no outs. Emeri Warren (Sebastopol) then hit an RBI single scoring Williams to give the Lady Wolves a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Wolves then exploded for ten runs in the top of the third as Olivia Banes (Pelahatchie) hit a leadoff single to start the inning. After Banes stole second, Taylor Efferson (Holden, LA) reached base on an error while Banes took third on the play and Efferson advanced to second. Both Banes and Efferson then scored on a two-RBI triple by Avery Williams increasing the score to 3-0. Madere then singled to put two runners on with no outs. After Madere stole second, Warren hit a two-RBI double scoring Williams and Madere to increase the lead to 5-0. Morgan Chisolm (Madison) then stepped up, took one swing of the bat, and crushed a 1-0 pitch over the centerfield fence for a two-run home run making the score, 7-0. Later in the inning, Carson Hughey (Brookhaven) kept the offense going with a one-out single. Brelie Phillips (Conehatta) then stepped up and smashed a 1-0 pitch over the centerfield fence for a two-run home run increasing the lead to 9-0. Banes then followed with a triple while Efferson then got in on the offensive fireworks as she blasted a 1-0 pitch for a two-run home run over the centerfield fence making the score, 11-0.
The Lady Wolves then added their final two runs in the top of the fourth as Emilie Williams (Summit) drew a one-out walk and then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Hughey. Phillips then delivered an RBI single scoring Williams while after stealing second, Phillips scored on an RBI single by Banes increasing the lead to 13-0.
The Lady Wolves then allowed one combined baserunner in the fourth and fifth innings to seal the 13-0 victory over the Cobras.
The Lady Wolves totaled 13 hits as Olivia Banes led the way with three hits while Brelie Phillips, Avery Williams, and Emeri Warren had two hits each with Taylor Efferson, Kynlee Madere, Morgan Chisolm, and Carson Hughey had one hit apiece. Phillips and Warren led the Lady Wolves in RBIs with three each while Efferson, Avery Williams, and Chisolm had two RBIs apiece with Banes adding one RBI.
Taylor Efferson got the start and improved to 1-1 with four innings pitched allowing two hits with four strikeouts while Emma Kate Fimiano (Petal) pitched one inning of hitless relief with one strikeout.
CO-LIN 10 COASTAL ALABAMA – NORTH 1
The Coyotes jumped ahead of the Lady Wolves scoring their lone run in the top of the first while taking advantage of a passed ball and making the score, 1-0. However, the lead was short-lived as the Lady Wolves plated three runs in the bottom half of the inning started with a leadoff single by Brelie Phillips. After Phillips stole second, Banes hit an RBI double, scoring Phillips, and tying the game at 1-1. Banes advanced to third by tagging up after a flyout by Efferson and then scored on an RBI single by Avery Williams to give the Lady Wolves a 2-1 lead. Avery Williams then stole second, stole third, and then scored on an error to increase the lead to 3-1.
The Lady Wolves then added two runs to the lead in the bottom of the second as Carson Hughey hit a one-out single to get the offense started. Hughey then advanced to third on a double by Phillips while later in the inning both scored on a two-out, two-RBI single by Efferson increasing the lead to 5-1. The Lady Wolves added a single run in the bottom of the sixth as Stella Roberts (Raymond) and Keegan McCorkle (Tyronza, AR) hit back-to-back singles while a third straight single by Hughey scored Roberts and increased the lead to 6-1.
The Lady Wolves added their final four runs in the bottom of the fourth as Efferson drew a leadoff walk to start the inning. Later in the inning, Madere reached on an error while Warren followed with a single to load the bases with one out. Roberts then hit a two-RBI double scoring Efferson and Madere while Warren and Roberts scored on a two-RBI single by McCorkle making the score, 10-1.
The Coyotes were then retired in order in the top of the fifth to seal the 10-1 victory for the Lady Wolves.
The Lady Wolves totaled 14 hits as Brelie Phillips, Stella Roberts, Avery Williams, Keegan McCorkle, and Carson Hughey had two hits each while Olivia Banes, Taylor Efferson, Kynlee Madere, and Emeri Warren had one hit apiece. Efferson, McCorkle, and Roberts led the Lady Wolves in RBIs with two apiece while Banes, Hughey, and Avery Williams had one RBI each.
Keegan McCorkle got the start and improved to 3-2 overall while pitching four innings and allowing one unearned run on three hits with six strikeouts while Maddie West (Gonzales, LA) made her season debut with one inning of relief retiring all three batters she faced.

The Lady Wolves got on the board with one run in the top of the first as Olivia Banes hit a one-out triple and later scored in the inning on a wild pitch to make the score, 1-0.
After getting out of a potential scoring jam by the Lady Eagles in the bottom of the second, the Lady Wolves increased their score with two runs courtesy of back-to-back solo home runs by Brelie Phillips and Olivia Banes in the top of the third making the score, 3-0.
The Lady Eagles then got their lone hit of the game, a two-out double, in the bottom half of the third, but a groundout followed for the Lady Wolves to maintain their lead. The Lady Wolves then added a run in the top of the fourth as Morgan Chisolm hit a leadoff double and then later scored on a two-out RBI single by Phillips increasing the score to 4-0.
The final run for the Lady Wolves came in the top of the sixth as Chisolm drew a leadoff walk to start the inning. Chisolm then advanced to second on a one-out single by Hughey and later in the inning scored on a two-out, RBI single by Banes increasing the lead to 5-0. The Lady Eagles were then retired in order in the sixth and seventh innings sealing the 5-0 victory for the Lady Wolves.
The Lady Wolves totaled ten hits as Olivia Banes led the way with three hits while Brelie Phillips had two hits with Taylor Efferson, Avery Williams, Kynlee Madere, Morgan Chisolm, and Carson Hughey had one hit apiece. Banes and Phillips accounted for the four RBIs for the Lady Wolves with two each.
Emily Richarde (Lakeland, TN) got the start and improved to 2-0 with a display of dominance in the circle. Richarde pitched a complete game allowing just one hit with three walks and six strikeouts.

The final game of the weekend for the Lady Wolves was scoreless through the first two innings despite scoring opportunities for the Lady Wolves in both innings. The Lady Bengals broke the scoreless tie with a single run in the top of the third to take a 1-0 lead.
However, the Lady Wolves responded with a single run of their own in the bottom half as Carson Hughey reached on an error and advanced to second on the play. Later in the inning, Taylor Efferson delivered a two-out, RBI single scoring Hughey and tying the game at 1-1.
The Lady Wolves then took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth as Morgan Chisolm hit a leadoff single to get the offense going. Chisolm then advanced to second on a groundout by Kynlee Madere and later in the inning scored on a two-out RBI single by Noelle Laiche (Gonzales, LA) to give the Lady Wolves a 2-1 lead. Laiche then advanced to third as Hughey reached on an error to put two runners on with two outs. Hughey then stole second while Laiche scored on an error and then Hughey scored on a second error increasing the Lady Wolves lead to 4-1.
The Lady Wolves added their final run in the bottom of the fifth as Banes hit a leadoff double while Efferson was hit-by-pitch to put two runners on with no outs. After Abby Burnette (Brookhaven) was brought on as a courtesy runner for Efferson, the Lady Wolves pulled off a double steal while Banes then scored on a sacrifice fly by Chisolm making the score, 5-1.
The Lady Bengals then were retired in order in the sixth but got a leadoff double and single in the top of the seventh. The Lady Bengals then hit back-to-back sacrifice flys to score two runs and make the score, 5-3; however, a groundout then ended the inning to secure the 5-3 victory for the Lady Wolves.
The Lady Wolves totaled nine hits as Brelie Phillips and Morgan Chisolm had two hits apiece while Olivia Banes, Taylor Efferson, Kynlee Madere, Emeri Warren, and Noelle Laiche had one hit each. Efferson, Chisolm, and Laiche had one RBI each for the Lady Wolves.
Taylor Efferson got the start and improved to 2-1 with the complete game win allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits with four strikeouts.
Co-Lin improves to 7-3 with the four wins and will return to action with a road doubleheader against Baton Rouge on Tuesday, February 25. First pitch between the Lady Wolves and the Lady Bears is set for 1 p.m., in Baton Rouge.
