Lady Wolves Dominate Lady Jaguars

SHREVEPORT – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team faced off against Southern University-Shreveport on the road on Thursday, November 11. The Lady Wolves used a dominant defensive performance on their way to a 73-26 win over the Lady Jaguars.

The Lady Wolves held just a one-point lead after the first quarter at 9-8. However, this was the closest the Lady Jaguars would get to the Lady Wolves for the remainder of the contest as the Lady Wolves used an explosive 25-point second quarter to extend their lead to 34-15 at halftime.

The Lady Wolves once again scored 20+ points in the third quarter as they outscored the Lady Jaguars, 23-8, to increase the lead to 57-23. The fourth quarter once again belonged to the Lady Wolves as they added 16 points while holding the Lady Jaguars to just three points to seal the 73-26 victory.

A freshman duo led the Lady Wolves offensively as guard Leilani Lewis (Baton Rouge, La.) and forward Christina James (Columbia) had 11 points each. Lewis also had eight rebounds with two assists and one steal while James had seven rebounds along with one assist and three steals. Freshman guard Tandria Minor (Brandon) added ten points along with four rebounds, two steals, and a team-leading four assists while sophomore guard Aniya Sanders added nine points with four rebounds and a team-leading five steals.

Sophomore guard Marvia Spann (Madison) added six points, while sophomore forwards Madelynn Webster (Pocahontas) and Jakiylah Esco (Ridgeland) along with sophomore guard Jakrya Young (Kosciusko) and freshman guard Zykeria Anderson (Edwards) added five points apiece. Freshman guard Yakia Burns (Vicksburg) added four points and freshman forward Kiersten Ball (Louisville) had two points to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.

The Lady Wolves improve to 3-1 overall and will return to action with a non-conference contest on the road against Holmes on Saturday, November 13. The action is set to tipoff at 2 p.m.
