Lady Wolves Run Away from Holmes

GOODMAN – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team faced off against Holmes in a road non-conference contest on Saturday, November 13. The Lady Wolves beat the Lady Bulldogs by a final of 76-57.

The Lady Bulldogs held a 24-19 lead after the first quarter, but the Lady Wolves responded by outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 19-10 in the second quarter to take a 38-34 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.

The Lady Wolves once again outscored Holmes in the third quarter, 20-15, to increase their lead to 58-49 and then the Lady Wolves held the Lady Bulldogs to their lowest scoring quarter in the fourth allowing just eight points while 18 to seal the 76-57 victory.

Sophomore guard Aniya Sanders (Vicksburg) led the Lady Wolves offensively with 17 points while also sharing the team lead in rebounds and steals with seven and three respectively and led the team in blocks with two and added two assists during the game. Sophomore guard Jakyra Young (Kosciusko) and freshman guard Tandria Minor (Brandon) had 13 points each with Young adding three rebounds and one assist while Minor added one rebound, three assists, and one steal. Freshman guard Zykeria Anderson (Edwards) added 12 points with three rebounds and the shared team lead in steals with three.

Sophomore forwards Jakiylah Esco (Ridgeland) and Kiersten Bell had nine and four points repsectively along with the shared team lead in rebounds with seven each. Freshman guard Leilani Lewis (Baton Rouge, La.) and sophomore guard Marvia Spann (Madison added three points each, and freshman forward Christina James (Columbia) had two points to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.

The Lady Wolves are now 4-1 overall and will return to action with a road contest in non-conference action against Southwest on Thursday, November 18. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
