Lady Wolves Outlast Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team faced off against Baton Rouge in a road contest on Saturday, November 21. The Lady Wolves beat the Lady Bears by a final of 66-61.

The Lady Wolves got off to a strong start in the opening quarter as they held a 22-15 lead at the end of play. The Lady Wolves then dominated the Lady Bears in the second quarter outscoring the opposition 18-7 and increasing their lead to 40-22 going to the locker rooms at halftime.

The second half belonged to the Lady Bears as they outscored the Lady Wolves, 17-8, in the third quarter cutting the lead down to 48-39. The Lady Bears then added 22 points while the Lady Wolves added 18 in the fourth quarter to secure the 66-61 victory.

Sophomore guard Aniya Sanders led the Lady Wolves offense with 15 points in addition to six rebounds while also leading the team in assists and steals with six and four respectively. Freshman guard Tandria Minor (Brandon) added 14 points paired with five rebounds, two assists and one steal while freshman guard Zykeria Anderson (Edwards) had nine points with four rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Freshman forwards Kiersten Ball (Louisville) and Christina James (Columbia) added seven points apiece with James adding a team leading seven rebounds, while sophomore forward Madelynn Webster (Pocahontas) had six points. Sophomore guards Jakyra Young (Kosciusko) and Marvia Spann (Madison) added five and two points respectively, and sophomore forward Jakiylah Esco (Ridgeland) had one point to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.

The Lady Wolves are now 5-2 overall and will return to action with a home contest against Baton Rouge on Monday, November 29. Tip-off at Mullen Gymnasium will be at 6 p.m.
