Lady Wolves Drop Contest to Lady Bobcats

ELLISVILLE – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team took to the road face off against Jones College in conference play on Friday, January 14. A strong second half propelled the Lady Bobcats to 72-57 win over the Lady Wolves.

The first quarter belonged to the Lady Wolves as they jumped out to a 20-11 lead. However, the Lady Wolves battled back in the second quarter and outscored the Lady Bobcats, 20-14, to cut the lead down to 34-31 going into the locker rooms at halftime.

The second half belonged to the Lady Bobcats as they outscored the Lady Wolves 38-26 over the final two quarters including 16-11 in the third and 22-15 in the fourth to earn the 72-57 win.

Sophomore guard Aniya Sanders (Vicksburg) led the Lady Wolves with a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds. Sanders also had one assist, three steals, and one block during the contest. Freshman guard Tandria Minor (Brandon) added 11 points with five rebounds, three assists, and a team-leading four steals while sophomore forward Madelynn Webster (Pocahontas) added ten points with five rebounds with one steal and a team-leading two blocks.

Sophomore guards Marvia Spann (Madison) and Jakrya Young (Kosciusko) added six points each while sophomore forward Jakiylah Esco (Ridgeland) had four points and freshman forward Kiersten Ball (Louisville) had two points to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.

The Lady Wolves are now 7-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play and will return to action hosting Mississippi Delta on Tuesday, January 18. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m., at Mullen Gym.
