Lady Wolves Blister Lady Tigers

CLARKSDALE – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team took to the road to face off against Coahoma on Thursday, January 27. The Lady Wolves beat the Lady Tigers by a final of 63-51, leading wire-to-wire to earn their third conference win.

The first quarter belonged to the Lady Wolves as they nearly doubled the score of the Lady Tigers and held a 21-11 lead at the end. The Lady Tigers responded by outscoring the Lady Wolves in the second quarter, 13-10, but could not overcome the Lady Wolves lead as they took a 31-24 margin into the locker rooms at halftime.

The third quarter once again belonged to the Lady Wolves as they outscored the Lady Tigers, 15-9, and increased their lead to 46-33 at the end of the quarter. The fourth quarter saw fast and frenzied action as the Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Wolves by one point, 18-17, but the Lady Wolves lead would not be overcome as they earned a hard-fought 63-51 win on the road.

A pair of freshman guards led the way for the Lady Wolves as Tandria Minor (Brandon) led the scoring with 24 points along with five rebounds, three assists, and one steal while Zykeria Anderson (Edwards) had a double-double of 17 points and ten rebounds. Anderson also added four assists, two steals, and one block during the contest.

Sophomore guard Aniya Sanders (Vicksburg) had seven points with eight rebounds, one assist, and one block while sophomore forward Jakiylah Esco (Ridgeland) had five points with seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Freshman forward Kiersten Ball (Louisville) had four points, sophomore guard Jakyra Young (Kosciusko) had three points, and sophomore forward Madelynn Webster (Pocahontas) added two points to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 9-7 overall and 3-4 in conference play. The Lady Wolves return to action by hosting Mississippi Delta on Saturday, January 29. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m., at Mullen Gym.
