Lady Wolves Dominate Lady Eagles

MONROEVILLE, Ala. – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team returned to action with a road contest against Coastal Alabama – North on Wednesday, December 7. The Lady Wolves led wire-to-wire displaying a dominating effort in a 77-58 win over the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Wolves used the first quarter to jump to jump out to a 16-12 lead over the Lady Eagles. The second quarter saw the Lady Wolves outscore the Lady Eagles, 22-16, as the increased their lead to 38-28 as the teams went into the locker rooms at halftime.

The third quarter saw the Lady Wolves flex their muscles and hold the Lady Eagles to just 8 points as the Lady Wolves added 26 points to their total increasing the lead to 64-36 at the end of the quarter. The Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Wolves, 22-12, in the final quarter of play. However, the Lady Wolves big lead would not be overcome as they sealed the 77-58 win.

The Lady Wolves were led by sophomore guard Tandria Minor (Brandon) who had 22 points along with two rebounds, four assists, and four steals while sophomore guard Zykeria Anderson (Edwards) finished with 19 points while leading the team in rebounds with six along with two assists and shared the team lead in steals with Minor at 4. Sophomore forward Kiersten Ball had 11 points along with five rebounds, one assist, and two blocks.

Sophomore guard Leilani Lewis (Baton Rouge, LA) had seven points, freshman guard Kayla Howard (Shaw) had six points, and freshman forward Ceara Myers had four points during the contest. Freshman guards Lashaunte Payne (Magee) and A'Shante Fleming (Canton) along with sophomore forward Jamey McDaniel (Summit) and freshman forward Breanna Grant-Hall (Wesson) had two points apiece to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.

Co-Lin improves to 9-1 overall as head coach Gwyn Young picked up his 997th career win at Co-Lin. The Lady Wolves will return to action with a road contest against the Southwest Mississippi Lady Bears on Thursday, January 5 with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. in Summit.
