Lady Wolves Drop Road Contest to Lady Wildcats

POPLARVILLE – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team returned to action with a road match against Pearl River on Monday, January 30. The Lady Wildcats beat the Lady Wolves, 86-54.

The Lady Wolves jumped ahead of the Lady Wildcats early in the first quarter but could not maintain the lead as the Lady Wildcats fought back and took the lead with less than one minute of play remaining. The Lady Wildcats ended the first quarter with a 25-22 lead over the Lady Wolves. The second quarter proved to be the turning point in the game as the Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Wolves, 18-4, to take a 43-26 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.

The third quarter saw the Lady Wildcats continue to flex their muscles as they doubled up the Lady Wolves, 22-10, to increase their lead to 65-36. The Lady Wolves outscored the Lady Wildcats in the fourth and final quarter of play, 20-19, but could not overcome the Lady Wildcats lead as they secured the 86-54 win.

Sophomore guard Zykeria Anderson (Edwards) led the way for the Lady Wolves as she tied for the game high in points with 15 paired with nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals while sophomore guard Tandria Minor had 14 points with two rebounds and two assists. Freshman forward Ceara Myers (Baton Rouge, La.) had 12 points with eight rebounds, while sophomore guard Leilani Lewis (Baton Rouge, La.) had 11 points with one rebound. Sophomore guard Ayanna McNairy (Brookhaven) and freshman guard A'Shante Fleming (Canton) had two points each to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 13-5 overall, 3-4 in conference play, and will return to action hosting Coahoma on Thursday, February 2. Tip-off between the Lady Wolves and the Lady Tigers is set for 6 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson.
