Lady Wolves Drop Third Straight on the Road At Gulf Coast

PERKINSTON – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team returned to action with their final road game of the regular season on Tuesday, February 21 against Gulf Coast. The Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Wolves by a final of 69-49.

The Lady Wolves had a strong showing in the first quarter of the game as they outscored the Lady Bulldogs, 17-15, to hold a lead by that margin at the end of play. However, the Lady Bulldogs responded with a dominant showing on both sides of the court in the second quarter outscoring the Lady Wolves, 21-8. The Lady Bulldogs held a 36-25 lead as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.

The Lady Bulldogs continued their show of force in the third quarter as they grew their lead outscoring the Lady Wolves, 12-10, to hold a 48-35 lead heading into the final quarter of play. The Lady Bulldogs then outscored the Lady Wolves, 21-14, in the fourth quarter to secure the 69-49 win over the Lady Wolves.

Sophomore guard Tandria Minor (Brandon) led the way for the Lady Wolves with 11 points along with three rebounds and one assists while freshman guard A'Shante Fleming (Canton) had eight points with four rebounds and one steal. Sophomore guard Leilani Lewis and Ceara Myers, both from Baton Rouge, LA, had seven points each while Lewis had four rebounds and Myers had five.

Sophomore guard Ayanna McNairy (Brookhaven) had six points, freshman guard Kayla Howard (Shaw) and sophomore forward Jamey McDaniel (Summit) had four points each, while freshman guard Lashaunte Payne (Magee) had two points to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.

Co-Lin falls to 16-8 overall, 6-7 in conference play, and will return to action for the final regular season game on Thursday, February 23. The Lady Wolves will host the Lady Rangers from Northwest and will celebrate Sophomore Night before the game. Tip-off is set for. 6 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson.
