Lady Wolves Drop Overtime Contest to Lady Bulldogs

WESSON – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team returned to action for their final game before the winter break hosting Holmes. The Lady Bulldogs outlasted the Lady Wolves taking the game, 70-66, in overtime.

"In the first half, I thought we turned the ball over far too much and that we did a poor job of keeping the ball in front of us defensively which led to us committing too many fouls," said Co-Lin head coach Britta Stephens. "We also got outrebounded by a team who was much smaller than us. All off those little things really cost us in this game."

The two teams traded baskets and leads throughout the opening moments of the first quarter, but ultimately the Lady Wolves held and 8-5 lead with 5:45 left to play. The Lady Wolves used a 6-4 scoring run to push their lead to 14-9 with 2:04 remaining. The two teams then matched scoring totals in the third quarter adding ten points each while the Lady Bulldogs held the lead at 39-35. The fourth quarter started with both teams once again matching scoring totals adding six points each over the opening minutes to make the score 45-41 with 7:11 remaining. The Lady Wolves then scored eight unanswered points to take a 49-45 lead with 3:41 left to play. The Lady Bulldogs then answered with an 8-4 scoring run to tie the game with 17 seconds left while the Lady Wolves got one final shot off before time expired, but the basket was missed leaving the game at 53-53 at the end of regulation.

Sequoia Bouldin (Hattiesburg) added 13 points with four rebounds, one assist, and two steals while A'Shante Fleming (Canton) had 12 points with five rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
