PERKINSTON – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team opened MACCC play with a road contest against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Thursday, January 18. The Lady Wolves dropped the game to the Lady Bulldogs, 80-51.

"I am really proud of our team's effort and toughness displayed during this game," stated Co-Lin head coach Dr. Britta Stephens. "Defensively, we did an excellent job against a very good Gulf Coast team."

"Even though we weren't victorious in this game, we showed improvement in some areas where we have struggled over the past few games," added Stephens. "Specifically I liked the way we played transition and help side defense in this game."

The Lady Bulldogs used a big opening first quarter to take a 22-12 lead over the Lady Wolves. The Lady Wolves did not back down from the challenge though as they continued to fight throughout the first half, but the Lady Bulldogs took the second quarter by a 16-9 margin. The Lady Bulldogs held a 38-21 lead as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.

The Lady Wolves went toe-to-toe with the Lady Bulldogs in the third quarter; however, the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Wolves, 25-23, in the quarter to stretch the lead to 53-44. The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Wolves, 17-7, in the final quarter to secure the 80-51 win.

"Ceara Myers was outstanding for us offensively tonight," stated Stephens. "Early in the game she got some really good looks and wasn't able to finish those, but later in the game, those shots started falling for her."

Ceara Myers (Baton Rouge) led the Lady Wolves offensively with 14 points along with four rebounds, and one steal while Angel Wilkinson (Brookhaven) had 11 points with five rebounds and one block.
