Lady Wolves Drop Road Finale Against Itawamba

FULTON – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team took to the road for the final time in the 2023-24 regular season to face off against Itawamba on Monday, March 4. The Lady Indians beat the Lady Wolves, 78-51.

The Lady Indians used a big first quarter against the Lady Wolves, outscoring them 24-9, to hold a lead by that margin at the end of play. The Lady Wolves and Lady Indians matched scoring totals in the second quarter with 18 points each. However, the Lady Indians held the lead at 42-37 as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.

The Lady Indians carried the momentum forward in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Wolves 18-14, to grow the lead to 60-41 heading to the final quarter of play. The Lady Indians added another 18 points to their total while holding the Lady Wolves to ten to secure the 78-51 win.

The Lady Wolves had two players in double-digit scoring numbers as Ceara Myers (Baton Rouge) led the way with 16 points, four rebounds, and one block while Angel Wilkinson (Brookhaven) had 13 points with three rebounds, and three steals.

Lashaunte Payne (Magee) had seven points with one rebound, one assist, and one steal while Alexanjria Washington (Canton) had four points. Jamea Smith (Jackson) and A'Shante Fleming (Canton) had three points each with Myla Harbor (Farriday, LA) and Kiersten Haynes (Clinton) adding two points apiece, and Tia Richardson (Jackson) had one point to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 13-12 overall, 5-8 in conference play, and will finish the regular season hosting Meridian on Thursday, March 7. Tip-off between the Lady Eagles and Lady Wolves is set for 5:30 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson. The Lady Wolves will celebrate Sophomore Day and will honor the sophomore members of the team between the women's and men's games.
