
Lady Wolves Upended by Lady Lions
SCOOBA – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team returned to MACCC play with a road game against East Mississippi on Thursday, January 23. The Lady Wolves had a strong showing in the first half, but a strong second half by the Lady Lions propelled them to a 62-55 win.
The first quarter was the best quarter for the Lady Wolves as they came out of the gates strong while outscoring the Lady Lions, 21-14. The Lady Wolves held the lead by that margin at the end of play in the first quarter. The second quarter also belonged to the Lady Wolves as they outscored the Lady Lions, 15-13, increasing their lead to 36-27 as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.
The third quarter saw a reversal of fortune for the Lady Wolves as they Lady Lions outscored them, 14-8, cutting the lead down to 44-41 at the end of play. The fourth quarter saw the Lady Lions outscore the Lady Wolves by almost double, 21-11, to secure the 62-55 win.
Angel Wilkinson (Brookhaven) led the way offensively for the Lady Wolves as she led all scorers with 22 points along with six rebounds, five steals, and one assist. Kamaiyah Pruitt (Pass Christian) narrowly missed a double-double performance with nine points and 12 rebounds along with two steals, one block, and one assist while Amari Barnes had six points with one rebound.
Kiersten Haynes (Clinton) had five points while Jamyria Robinson (St. Martin), Kaylee Johnson (Booneville), and Tyra Johnson (Morton) had three points each. Chrystance Walters (Pearl) and Maddison Mitchell (Baton Rouge, LA) had two points each to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.
Co-Lin is now 11-7 overall, 1-2 in conference play, and will return to action hosting Holmes on Monday, January 27. Tip-off between the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Wolves is set for 5:30 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson.
