Lady Wolves Drop Road Game Against Bobcats

ELLISVILLE – The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team hit the road to face off against Jones in conference action on Thursday, January 30. The Bobcats beat the Lady Wolves, 78-74.

The Lady Wolves came out strong in the opening minutes of the first quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 9-4 to hold a lead by that margin with 7:08 left on the clock. The Bobcats answered with a 9-6 scoring run to make the Lady Wolves lead 15-13 with three minutes remaining. The Bobcats closed out the quarter with a 6-4 scoring run to tie the game at 19-19.

The Bobcats opened the second quarter with a 7-6 scoring run to hold a 26-25 lead with 7:10 left to play. The Bobcats then used a 14-4 scoring run to push their lead to 40-29 with 2:36 left in the first half. The Lady Wolves closed out the quarter with a 6-3 scoring run to cut the lead down to 42-35 as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.

The Lady Wolves came out in the third half and had an 8-2 scoring run to cut the lead down to 44-43 with 6:55 left to play. The Bobcats responded with a 9-3 scoring run to push their lead to 53-46 with 2:34 left on the clock. The Lady Wolves closed out the quarter with a 4-2 scoring run to cut the lead down to 55-50.

The Bobcats opened the fourth quarter with a 4-2 scoring run to push their lead to 59-52 with 7:15 remaining. The Lady Wolves answered with an 8-4 scoring to cut the lead down to 63-60 with 2:31 left to play in the game. The Lady Wolves then went on 10-9 scoring run to cut the lead down to 72-70 with eight seconds left but could not get a chance to tie the game as the Bobcats added two more points on their final possession to secure the 74-70 win.

Angel Wilkinson (Brookhaven) led the way for the Lady Wolves with a game-leading 35 points paired with three rebounds, three steals, and two assists while Kamaiyah Pruitt (Pass Christian) had a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds.

Maddison Mitchell (Baton Rouge, LA) had seven points, Eymani Key (Lafayette, LA) had five points, and Kiersten Haynes (Clinton) had four points. Kylinn Bell (Choctaw), Jamyria Robinson (St. Martin), Tyra Johnson (Morton), and Chrystance Walters (Pearl) had two points each while Amari Barnes had one point to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 11-9 overall, 1-4 in conference play, and will return to action hosting Mississippi Delta on Monday, February 3. Tip-off between the Lady Trojans and the Lady Wolves is set for 5:30 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson.
