Lady Wolves Blanked by Lady Bulldogs

WESSON – The Co-Lin Women's soccer team took to the road to face off against Holmes on Tuesday, October 4. The Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Wolves by a final of 3-0.

"Our girls fought hard yesterday against a very talented Holmes side," said Co-Lin head coach Tom Cosgrave. "We had a gameplan going into the match and the girls worked tirelessly the whole match to stick to it."

The Lady Wolves had several scoring opportunities early in the match but could not get one past the Lady Bulldogs keeper as the game stayed scoreless throughout the majority of the first half. The Lady Bulldogs first goal came in the 43rd minute to take a 1-0 lead which held as the horn sounded for halftime.

The Lady Bulldogs added their final two goals in the 68th and 85th minutes while keeping the Lady Wolves attack stalled for most of the second half to earn a 3-0 win.

"We caused them a few problems early on but couldn't finish our chances," stated Cosgrave. "They scored a couple of great individual goals in the second half. Even though this wasn't the result that we wanted, we were happy with how the girls performed during the match and we are ready to go again on Friday."

Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Moon (Poynton with Worth, England) set a new season high in saves with 17 while allowing three goals on 20 total shots faced.

Co-Lin is now 9-1-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play and will return to action hosting East Central on Friday, October 7. The action on the pitch between the Lady Warriors and the Lady Wolves kicks off at 1 p.m., at Stone Stadium.
