Lady Wolves Stunned by Lady Eagles

MERIDIAN – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team finished the 2022 regular season with a road match against Meridian. The Lady Eagles beat the Lady Wolves by a final of 2-1.

The lone goal for the Lady Wolves came early in the match as freshman forward Charlie Cooper (Corby, England) beat the Lady Eagles keeper with an assist from sophomore forward Taylor Ford (Florence) making the score 1-0 in the sixth minute of the match.

The 1-0 lead held for the Lady Wolves throughout the remainder of the first half as the horn sounded for halftime.

The Lady Eagles tied the game with their first goal in the 50th minute of the match and then took the lead with their second goal with less than 30 seconds remaining in the match.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Moon (Poynton with Worth, England) made four saves on six shots faced on goal throughout the match.

"Even though this wasn't the result we wanted, I thought we played well for long periods of the game," said Co-Lin Head Coach Tom Cosgrave. "We created plenty of chances, but we could not finish them. Credit to Meridian as they took advantage of a couple of lapses in concentration from us."

Co-Lin finishes the regular season 10-3-3 overall, 5-3-2 in conference play, which is the best overall regular season record in program history! The Lady Wolves have also qualified for postseason play for the first time in program history as they finished fifth overall in the MACCC standings and will take to the road to face off against No. 10 Pearl River. The action on the pitch between the Lady Wildcats and the Lady Wolves will kick off on Sunday, October 30 at 4 p.m., in Poplarville at PRCC Soccer Complex.

"Now we have to regroup, refocus, and get ready for Sunday's playoff game against PRCC," added Cosgrave.
