Lady Wolves Post Second Straight Shutout Win

MEMPHIS – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team returned to action on Friday, August 25 facing off against East Central College. The Lady Wolves had another clean sheet win with a 2-0 victory over the Falcons.

"It was a scorching hot day in Memphis which made it that much tougher for the team after having played less than 24 hours prior to this match," said Co-Lin head coach Tom Cosgrave. "Despite those circumstances, the team had a solid performance throughout the match and came away with a second straight clean sheet."

The Lady Wolves got their first goal midway through the first half as Avery Rankin (Brandon) got her first goal of the season with an assist from Charlie Cooper (Corby, England) in the 30th minute making the score 1-0 which held through halftime.

The second goal of the match came in the 55th minute as Cooper got her third goal of the season with an assist from Alisa Johnson (Leakesville).

"We missed a couple of early chances to go ahead in the first half, but I was happy to see us break the deadline just before halftime," added Cosgrave. "We came out much more organized for the second half and looked solid defensively. The second goal was setup by a lovely cross from Alisa out wide to Charlie in the box and she was able to finish the scoring opportunity off."

Lara Dorfel (Munich, Germany) saved both shots on goal she faced in the match.

Co-Lin is now 2-0-0 on the season. The Lady Wolves return to action on the road in St. Louis, Missouri to face off against St. Charles Community College on Friday, September 1 at 3 p.m.
