Lady Wolves Split Weekend Road Matches

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team returned to action with a pair of road contests over the weekend in the St. Louis, Missouri area. The Lady Wolves split the matches falling to St. Charles Community College, 3-1, on Friday, September 1, and then rebounded with a 4-1 win over Mineral Area College on Saturday, September 2.

St. Charles 3, Co-Lin 1

The Lady Wolves got on the board first in the match as Emmi Cook (Chesterfield, England) blasted a free kick past the Lady Cougars keeper in the 21st minute to take a 1-0 lead. However, the Lady Cougars scored late in the first half to tie the match in the 35th minute. The 1-1 score held throughout the remainder of the half.

The Lady Cougars then added goals in the 60th and 80th minutes of the match while keeping the Lady Wolves scoreless to take a 3-1 win.

Lara Dorfel (Munich, Germany) saved eight of 11 total shots on goal throughout the match.

Co-Lin 4, Mineral Area 1

Charlie Cooper (Corby, England) was the big factor in the match for the Lady Wolves as she factored into every scoring play.

The Lady Wolves got the scoring started early as Unity Cutrer (St. Martin) beat the Lady Cardinals keeper with an assist from Cooper in the 16th minute making the score, 1-0. The Lady Cardinals then tied the game with their only goal of the match in the 32nd minute making the score, 1-1.

Cooper then broke the tie with her first goal of the match in the 38th minute with an assist from Alisa Johnson (Leakesville) making the score, 2-1, which held throughout the remainder of play in the half.

Cooper then scored in back-to-back minutes for her hat trick in the match as she converted a penalty kick in the 71st minute and then scored in the 72nd minute with another assist from Johnson making the score, 4-1. The Lady Wolves then closed out the match by keeping the Lady Cardinals scoreless for the remainder of play to secure the 4-1 win.

Lara Dorfel made two saves on three shots on goal throughout the match.

Co-Lin is now 3-1 overall and will return to action on the road against East Central on Tuesday, September 5. The Lady Wolves and Lady Warriors kick off the action on the pitch at 2 p.m., in Decatur.
