Cooper’s Hat Trick Propels Lady Wolves to Conference Opening Win

RAYMOND – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team returned to action by opening MACCC play on the road against Hinds on Friday, September 15. The Lady Wolves beat the Lady Eagles by a final of 3-0.

The first half of play was scoreless through the first 35 minutes, but then the Lady Wolves were awarded a penalty kick in the 36th minute, which Charlie Cooper (Corby, England) stepped up and converted the attempt to give the Lady Wolves a 1-0 lead. The lead stood throughout the remainder of play as the horn sounded for halftime.

Cooper then added her second goal of the match early in the second half as she beat the Lady Eagles keeper with an assist from Emmi Cook (Chesterfield, England) in the 56th minute. Cooper earned her hat trick in the match with her goal in the 77th minute, this time finding the back of the net with an assist from Kaylee Roth (Brandon) to give the Lady Wolves a 3-0 lead. The Lady Wolves allowed just one shot on goal in the final minutes of the match to secure the 3-0 victory.

Lara Dorfel (Munich, Germany) and Maelee Thibodeaux (Brookhaven) saved one shot on goal each in the combined clean sheet in the win.

Co-Lin is now 4-2 overall, 1-0 in conference play, and will return to action on the road against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Tuesday, September 18. The action between the Lady Wolves and Lady Bulldogs kicks off on the pitch at 5 p.m., in Perkinston.
