Lady Wolves Rout Lady Lions

WESSON – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team returned to MACCC action hosting East Mississippi on Friday, September 22, for their home opener. The Lady Wolves used a dominant performance on the pitch en route to an 11-0 victory.

The match was scoreless for the first 21 minutes of play, then the Lady Wolves got the offense going as Charlie Cooper (Corby, England) scored twice in five minutes with the opening goal in the 22nd minute and a penalty kick goal in the 27th minute making the score, 2-0.

The Lady Wolves then scored three goals in the final 11 minutes of the match as Unity Cutrer (St. Martin) got involved in the first two goals beating the Lady Lions keeper with an assist from Madilynne Cooley (Natchez) in the 34th minute. Cutrer then assisted Cooper in the 37th minute on a goal giving Cooper a hat trick in the first half, making the score 4-0. The final goal for the Lady Wolves in the first half came in the final minute as Alisa Johnson (Leakesville) made it 5-0 in the 45th minute.

The Lady Wolves wasted no time in continuing the scoring in the second half as Cooper got her fourth goal in the 46th minute increasing the lead to 6-0. The Lady Wolves then scored three goals in fifteen minutes as Emmi Cook (Chesterfield) scored her first goal in the 62nd minute, Brooklyn Cupit (Meadville) scored in the 67th minute, and then Cutrer found the back of the net for the second time of the match, earning her brace, in the 77th minute.

The final two goals of the match came six minutes apart as Cooper scored her fifth goal of the match in the 82nd minute, while Cook earned her brace with her second goal of the match in the 88th minute giving the final score of 11-0.

Lara Dorfel (Munich, Germany) and Maelee Thibodeaux (Brookhaven) played 45 minutes each in the match and faced no shots on goal in the combined clean sheet win.

Co-Lin returns to action on the road against No. 4 Jones on Tuesday, September 26. The action on the pitch between the Lady Wolves and Lady Bobcats kicks off at 5 p.m., in Ellisville.
