Cooper’s Third Hat Trick Propels Lady Wolves to Conference Win

WESSON- The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team returned to MACCC play with a home game against Southwest on Friday, September 29. The Lady Wolves beat the Lady Bears, 3-1.

The Lady Wolves got on the board midway through the first half as Charlie Cooper (Corby, England) beat the Lady Bears keeper with an assist from Kaylee Roth (Brandon) in the 20th minute making the score, 1-0. Just two minutes later, the Roth to Cooper connection hit again for the Lady Wolves extending the lead to 2-0 in the 22nd minute.

The Lady Wolves stalled out the Lady Bears attack for the remainder of the first half to maintain their 2-0 lead going to halftime.

The Lady Bears continued to be stalled out by the strong defensive play by the Lady Wolves but would cut the lead in half with a goal in the 77th minute. However, in the 79th minute the Lady Wolves turned strong defense into a quick counterattack opportunity as Chloe Nash (Byram) won the ball from the Lady Bears attacker, then found Keely Marshall (Madison) near the midfield area. Marshall then pushed a through ball to Cooper who ran past all the Lady Bears defenders and won the one-on-one matchup against the Lady Bears keeper increasing the Lady Wolves lead to 3-1 and earning her third hat trick in conference play.

Lara Dorfel (Munich, Germany) saved four of five shots on goal faced throughout the match.

Co-Lin returns to action with a road conference match against Itawamba on Tuesday, October 3. The action between the Lady Wolves and Lady Indians kicks off on the pitch at 1 p.m., in Fulton.
