Lady Wolves Drop Contest to Top Ranked Lady Rangers

WESSON – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team returned to conference action hosting Northwest Mississippi on Tuesday, October 17. The No. 1 Lady Rangers beat the No. 17 Lady Wolves, 2-0.

The Lady Rangers possessed the ball for the majority of the first half stalling out any forward attacks that the Lady Wolves attempted throughout the half. Despite the Lady Rangers offensive barrage, the first half was scoreless as the Lady Wolves played superb defense including freshman goalkeeper Lara Dorfel (Munich, Germany) saved all 12 shots on goal she faced.

The Lady Rangers and Lady Wolves remained scoreless through a large portion of the second half until the Lady Rangers broke through with a goal in the 64th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Lady Wolves continued with a strong defensive performance while looking for a potential equalizing goal. However, the Lady Rangers added a second goal in the 86th minute and then kept the Lady Wolves offense at bay to seal the 2-0 win.

Dorfel finished the match with a new career high of 20 saves on 22 shots on goal faced throughout the match.

Co-Lin is now 7-6-1 overall, 4-4-1 in MACCC play, and will return to action for their final home game against Pearl River on Friday, October 20.
