Lady Wolves Tie Lady Warriors and Clinch Postseason Berth

DECATUR – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a road trip against East Central knowing they needed a win or tie to clinch their second straight postseason appearance in as many seasons. The Lady Wolves and Lady Warriors finished the game in a 1-1 tie.

The Lady Wolves scored early in the first half as Avery Rankin (Brandon) chipped a ball over the Lady Warriors keeper with an assist from Chloe Nash (Byram) making the score 1-0 in the 23rd minute. The Lady Wolves looked to extend the lead throughout the remainder of the first half but could not find the back of the net while stalling out the Lady Warriors defense to maintain a 1-0 lead at halftime.

The Lady Wolves continued to show a dominant defensive performance throughout the second half to keep the Lady Warriors off the board. However, after the Lady Wolves were forced to play with ten players after a red card, the Lady Warriors took advantage and tied the game in the 81st minute. The Lady Wolves had a couple of scoring opportunities to potentially take the lead but could not beat the Lady Warriors keeper as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Co-Lin finishes 7-7-2 overall, 4-5-2 in conference play, and with the tie clinched their second straight postseason appearance. The Lady Wolves will hit the road to face off against No. 3 Lady Rangers of Northwest. Kickoff on the pitch in Senatobia is scheduled for 2 p.m., on Saturday, October 28.
