POPLARVILLE – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team continued conference play with a road match against Pearl River on Friday, September 20. The No. 11 Lady Wildcats beat the Lady Wolves, 6-1.
The Lady Wildcats took an early lead with a goal in the 16th minute. However, the Lady Wolves continued to show great fight and determination and found the equalizing goal in the 41st minute as Siobhan Scott (Glasgow, Scotland) beat the keeper with an assist from Avery Rankin making the score, 1-1. That score held throughout the remainder of play in the first half.
The second half belonged to the Lady Wildcats as they scored the go-ahead goal in the 50th minute to take a 2-1 lead. The Lady Wolves continued to try and fight their way back in the match, but the Lady Wildcats scored goals in the 66th, 72nd, 77th, and 89th minutes to secure the 6-1 win.
Olivia Conway (Huddersfield, England) saved nine of 15 shots on goal faced throughout the match.
Co-Lin is now 1-2-1 overall and will return to action hosting Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday, September 24. The action on the pitch between the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Wolves is set to kickoff at 5:30 p.m., at Stone Stadium in Wesson.
