WESSON – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team resumed MACCC play by hosting East Central on Friday, October 10. The Lady Wolves used an offensive explosion to beat the Lady Warriors, 5-1.
The Lady Wolves got on the board early as Ella-Mai Bale (Peterborough, England) beat the Lady Warriors keeper with an assist from Kristina Seymour (Madison) in the ninth minute. That 1-0 lead held until Bale struck again in the 32nd minute with an assist from Jess Abrantes (Peterborough, England) increasing the lead to 2-0. That lead held throughout the remainder of the first half.
The Bale and Abrantes connection struck again, this time in reverse, as Abrantes found the back of the net with an assist from Bale in the 50th minute making the lead, 3-0. The lone goal for the Lady Warriors came just four minutes later making the score, 3-1. However, the Lady Wolves responded with a pair of goals both assisted by Abrantes, her second and third assists of the match, as Campbell Miller (Madison) scored in the 60th minute while Madeline Logan (Brandon) found the back of the net in the 68th minute making the lead, 5-1. The Lady Wolves did not allow the Lady Warriors a shot on goal in the final 22 minutes of play to secure the 5-1 victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Conway (Huddersfield, England) saved five of six shots on goal while playing 82 minutes while freshman keeper Katherine Romero (Bude) played the final eight minutes of the match and did not face a shot on goal.
Co-Lin improves to 5-3-2 overall, 3-2-2 in MACCC play, and will return to action on the road against Gulf Coast on Tuesday, October 14. Kickoff between the No. 9 Bulldogs and the Lady Wolves is set for 5 p.m., in Perkinston.
