Lady Wolves tennis defeats East Central

DECATUR – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves won their third match in a row defeating the East Central Lady Warriors 6-3 on Thursday. After taking the week off for spring break the Lady Wolves travel to Holmes Community College on Tuesday, March 20, with matches beginning at 1 p.m.

"The girls saw a spirited comeback by Carmen (Manicea) at No. 2 singles winning in a third set tiebreaker," said tennis coach Brenda Smith. "We also got key victories by Katy and Kara Clark in singles and doubles."

In doubles action, the Lady Wolves swept all three matches. No. 1 doubles Ximena Daza and Carmen Manicea blanked Madison Crapps and Tatiana Quinonez 8-0, Kara Clark and Katy Clark defeated Alex Tindall and Caylee Grace Yarborough 8-2 at No. 2, and Ashlyn Locke and Faith Bergeron Julia Johnston and Sara Mazzella at No. 3.

In singles action, Daza blanked Meredith Bozeman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. The most exciting match of the day came at No. 2 singles as Co-Lin's Manicea defeated Quinonez 4-6, 6-2, 10-8. At No. 3 singles, Katy Clark disposed of Tindall 6-1, 6-2, while twin sister Kara took care of Yarborough 6-3, 6-4.  

East Central won two singles matches as Bethany Wellerman defeated Co-Lin's Locke 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 and Johnston defeated Madison Franklin 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.
