Lady Wolves upset No. 22 Wallace State
DECATUR – The No. 25 ranked Co-Lin Lady Wolves upset the No. 22 ranked Wallace State Community College 6-3 on Saturday at East Central Community College in Decatur. The Lady Wolves (4-2) travel to Meridian on Wednesday with matches starting at 2 p.m.
"The women's match was an upset, especially 6-3," said Co-Lin tennis coach Brenda Smith. "I was particularly pleased with Ashlyn and Katy's singles wins. Ximena and Carmen dominated, we also picked up 2 of 3 doubles point, which is critical for us to win."
In doubles action, the No. 1 doubles team of Ximena Daza and Carmen Manicea defeated Kelsi Wilson and Tompie Ennis 8-5 and Katy and Kara Clark took care of Emily Graves and Mary Ann Wolfe 8-3 at No. 2.
The Lady Wolves won four of six singles matches. Daza defeated Wilson 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1. Manicea beat Graves 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, Katy Clark took care of Wolfe 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3, and Locke defeated Whitlock 6-3, 6-2.
