No. 25 Lady Wolves edge No. 15 Lady Bobcats
WESSON – The No. 25 Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves won a 5-4 decision over the No. 15 Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats. Co-Lin swept the doubles matches and picked up two key wins in singles. The Lady Bobcats defeated the Lady Wolves 6-3 earlier this season
"Ashlyn (Locke) made the difference picking up wins at No. 3 doubles with partner Faith (Bergeron) and at No. 5 singles," said Coach Brenda Smith. "I am so proud of the improvement this team has made. Jones is a good team that's well coached. Ximena (Daza) picked up two wins at singles and doubles, our other win was an impressive one at No. 2 doubles"
In doubles action, the No. 1 doubles team of Ximena Daza and Carmen Manicea defeated Ariandna Jordan and Mireia Jordan 8-6. Katy and Kara Clark took care of Beth Owen and Kaylee McLaurin 8-5 at No. 2 and Ashlyn Locke and Faith Bergeron edged August Parker and Brooke Cran in a tiebreaker 9-8 (9-7).
The Lady Wolves picked up two wins in singles matches. Daza defeated Mireia Jordan 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1, and Locke defeated Parker 6-1, 6-2 to give the Lady Wolves the match.
Co-Lin (6-2) travels to Raymond to take on the Hinds Lady Eagles on Tuesday beginning at 2 p.m.
