No. 25 Lady Wolves edge Hinds 5-4

RAYMOND – The No. 25 Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves won a 5-4 decision over the Hinds Community College Lady Eagles. Co-Lin took two out of three doubles matches and picked up four wins in singles.

"It's always good to win on the road," said tennis coach Brenda Smith. "Our doubles continue to be a key as we won two of three matches. In singles, we were in a position to win every match. This team shows a tenacity that grows with each match."          

In doubles action, the No. 1 doubles team of Ximena Daza and Carmen Manicea defeated Stefy Varon-Diaz and Paula Guitierrez 8-3. Katy and Kara Clark blanked Madison Curtis and Anna Hayden Taylor 8-0 at No. 2.

The Lady Wolves picked up four wins in singles matches. Daza defeated Varon-Diaz 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1. At No. 2, Manicea beat Guitierrez in a tie breaker 7-6 (7-0), 7-5. No. 3 Katy Clark took care of Warren 6-1, 6-2 and Locke defeated White 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5.

The Lady Wolves (7-2) are on the road at Holmes with matches beginning at 2 p.m.
