Lady Wolves beat Holmes 7-2

WESSON – The No. 25 Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves defeated the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs 7-2 in tennis action yesterday. Prior to the match, Coach Brenda Smith honored her two sophomores, Ximena Daza and Madison Franklin.

"Ximena could not play due to injury," said tennis coach Brenda Smith. "We filled her spots with substitutes."

In doubles action, the Lady Wolves won two of three matches as the No. 2 doubles team of Katy and Kara Clark defeated Avery Terrell and Lucy Oakes 8-1 and Holmes forfeited the No. 3 doubles match.

Co-Lin dominated singles action winning five out of six matches. At No. 2, Carmen Manicea blanked Hannah Thomas 6-0, 6-0. Katy Clark shut out Terrell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and Kara Clark defeated Oakes 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4. Holmes forfeited at No. 5 and No. 6.

The Lady Wolves (9-3) will host Itawamba on Friday beginning at 2 p.m.
