Lady Wolves fall to Meridian

The Co-Lin Lady Wolves tennis team dropped their home opener 7-2 to the Meridian Community College Lady Eagles. Co-Lin travels to Hinds on Friday, Jan. 29 with matches beginning at 2 p.m.

Co-Lin picked up a win at No. 1 doubles as the team of Susana Patino/Madison Shows defeated Carla Montanuli/Isabella Warham 8-5. The Lady Eagles took wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Harper Bryan/Tessa Ward defeated Morgan Brister/Gracie Phillips 8-3 at No. 2 and Britney Murphree/Ralie Boles defeated Britany Barnett/Gracee Warren 8-4.

In singles action, Patino picked up the only win for the Lady Wolves defeating Montanuli 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1. The most competitive match of the day came at No. 5 singles as Ward outlasted Co-Lin's Barnett 3-6, 6-1, 10-2. At No. 2, Warham beat Shows 6-1, 6-4. Meridian's Bryan took the win at N. 3 defeating Brister 6-1, 7-5. Murphree picked up the win at No. 4 beating Phillips 6-1, 6-1 and Boles took the win over Co-Lin's Warren 6-2, 6-1.
