Lady Wolves to take on Meridian in NJCAA Region 23 Tournament­­

WESSON – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves will take on the Meridian Lady Eagles in the first round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tennis Tournament to be held at Jones College in Ellisville April 15-17. The first round match will begin Thursday at 10 a.m.

The Lady Wolves finished the Mississippi Association of Community College Conference (MACCC) regular season with an 8-6 record and are the No. 4 seed in the tournament. The top six teams qualified for the tournament. The host Jones College Lady Bobcats are the No. 1 seed followed by Mississippi Gulf Coast, Hinds, Co-Lin, Meridian and East Central. Jones and Mississippi Gulf Coast drew first round byes. 

In two prior meetings with Meridian early in the season, the Lady Eagles defeated Co-Lin 7-2 (Jan. 26) and 5-4 (March 5), but Co-Lin has improved since the beginning of the season. The winner will face the No. 1 seed Jones County Lady Bobcats on Friday.

Members of the Lady Wolves include Susana Patino of Bogota, Columbia; Madison Shows of Mendenhall, Isabella Chela of Pretoria, South Africa; Gracie Phillips of Crystal Springs, Britany Barnett, Morgyn Brister, Meagan Poole, Paige Shedd and Gracie Warren, all of Brookhaven. The Lady Wolves are coached by Dana Hale and Dr. Rob Channell.
