Tennis Splits Day with Meridian

WESSON – The Co-Lin Men's and Women's Tennis teams resumed MACCC play by hosting Meridian on Friday, March 21. The teams split the matches as the Lady Wolves lost to the Lady Eagles, 3-6, while the Wolves beat the Eagles, 6-3.

In the women's match, the Lady Wolves picked up a point as Yariange Bello (Caracas, Venezuela) and Munashe Bera (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) won one doubles, 8-4, while Georgina Labusch (Verl, Germany) and Sophie Sisson (Moss Point) dropped two doubles, 3-8, with Ann-Clark Van (Jayess) and Allie Grace McNeill (Brookhaven) fell in three doubles, 6-8.

In the singles matches, the Lady Wolves grabbed two points as Labusch took three singles, 6-2 and 6-3, while McNeill won six singles, 7-6(7-5) 6-2 1-0(10-8). Bello dropped one singles, 1-6 and 2-2, Bera fell in two singles, 5-7 and 1-6, while Sisson took the loss in four singles at 1-6 and 3-6 with Van dropping five singles at 1-6 and 6-7 (5-7).

In the men's match, the Wolves jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches as Ege Altas (Istanbul, Turkey) and Jake Bucek (Geelong, Australia) won one doubles, 8-3, while Mason Brand (Mantee) and Simon Cooper (Sumrall) took three doubles, 8-5. Robert Adcock (Brookhaven) and Tristin Rollins (Brookhaven) lost two doubles, 6-8.

In the singles matches, Altas won one singles, 7-6 and 6-2, while Brand won four singles at 6-2 and 6-1, with Cooper adding a win at five singles with two 6-1 sets and Jax Leggett (Bogue Chitto) took six singles, 6-3 6-7 1-0(10-8). Bucek dropped two singles at 1-6 and 2-6(2-7) while Adcock lost three singles with two 1-6 sets.

The Wolves are now 6-7 overall, 5-3 in MACCC play, while the Lady Wolves are 3-9 overall, 3-4 in MACCC play. Both teams will be back in action on the road at Jones on Tuesday, March 25.
