Co-Lin plates 10 in win over Baton Rouge Community College

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves defeated Baton Rouge Community College 10-8 in a shootout for the Wolves second victory of the year. The action-packed contest saw 27 hits between the two clubs.

Baton Rouge struck first in the opening inning of play with a triple and single that plated three runs. The Wolves quickly answered in the top of the second. Austin O'Flynn reached base on an error that scored Austin Tidwell who started the two-out rally with a double. Madison Smith brought home O'Flynn with a homerun and knotted the game at 3 all.

The Wolves took the lead in the top of the third with an RBI single from CJ Estave, an RBI single from Ryan Zimmerman, and an RBI double from Smith.

The Bears pushed one across in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Wolves' lead to three, 7-4.

Estave lined a double to right in the top of the sixth to score White and Jaylyn Williams reached base on an error and scored Estave. The two-inning inning stretch Co-Lin's lead to 9-4.

Several hits led to Baton Rouge scoring four in the bottom of the sixth and brought the Bears within one, 9-8.

The Wolves final run came in the top of the seventh with a single from O'Flynn that plated Zimmerman.

The Wolves gave up just one hit in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 10-8 victory.

Jordan Bowden was the winning pitcher for Co-Lin as he surrendered three runs on nine hits over four innings, striking out three and walking zero. Austin Tidwell, Blake Sigrest, and Zach Smith all put in work on the pitcher's mound in relief out of the bullpen for the Wolves. Tidwell recorded the last five outs to earn the save for Co-Lin.

Evan Becnel took the loss for Baton Rouge. He allowed eight hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out two and walking zero.

Estave, Smith, Austin O'Flynn, and White each managed multiple hits for Co-Lin. White, O'Flynn, Smith, and Estave each collected two hits to lead Copiah-Lincoln CC Wolves .

Baton Rouge Community College totaled 15 hits. Kolby Blanchard, Garrett Barrilleaux, Troy Banks, all collected multiple hits for the Bears. Blanchard led Baton Rouge with five hits in five at bats.
