Brock pitches shutout, Hinds sweeps Co-Lin

RAYMOND – The Hinds Eagles swept a doubleheader from the Co-Lin Wolves 5-3 and 4-0 in MACCC action today.

GAME 1

The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings of play.

Co-Lin would get on the board in the top of the fourth inning on a Peyton Parker (West Monroe, LA/West Ouachita High School) solo home run to lead off the inning.

In the top of the fifth, the Wolves would tie the game at 2-2 on Will-Lawson Harkins' (Carthage/Leake Academy) RBI double.

The Wolves would take a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth on back-to-back singles by Parker and Tom Biggs (Columbia, LA/West Monroe High School). Kenner Bizot's (Wesson/Wesson High School) single to right allowed Parker to score the go ahead run.

The Eagles tied the game at 3-all in the bottom of the seventh on a Connor Carter RBI single that drove in Matt Corder.

Hinds took a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth on a Brooks Auger RBI single and a Co-Lin error.

Noah Magee posted the win for Hinds. He allowed one hit and struck out one. Starter Caleb Sterling went 5.2 innings gave up three runs on seven hits and struck out four. Other Eagle pitchers seeing action were Austin Fugler (0.1, one hit), Matthew Taylor (one inning, three strikeouts) and Gage Bihm (one inning, one strikeout).

Biggs suffered the loss for Co-Lin. He allowed two runs on five hits and struck out three in two innings of work. Sevante Quinn (Brookhaven/Brookhaven High School) pitched two innings. He struck out one and walked two. Tanner Watts (Brookhaven/Brookhaven Academy) relieved Quinn. He gave up two runs on four hits and struck out one.  Tucker Jones (Pearl/Pearl High School) pitched one inning allowing one run on two hits.

Leading the Wolves at the plate was Bizot who went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Parker had a home run and a single. Harkins had a double and a single. Adding support were Biggs and Hunter Estes.

At the plate for Hinds, Corder was 4-for-5. Sterling had two hits. Adding support with a hit apiece were Vantrel Reed, Carter, Pablo Lanzarote, Auger and Colby Collier.

GAME 2

Hinds' pitcher Bryce Brock threw a complete game two-hit shutout against the Wolves. He struck out 11 and walked one.

 The Eagles scored a run in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings to take the 4-0 win.

Peyton Parker took the loss for the Wolves. He pitched five innings gave up four earned runs, eight hits, struck out four and walked two. Aiden Singley pitched the sixth inning striking out two.

Co-Lin's Braydon Muse (Florence/Florence High School) and Hunter Estes (Purvis/Lamar Christian) were the only two Wolves collecting a hit.

At the plate for Hinds, Chase DeJean and Lanzarote had two doubles each. Sterling also had a pair of hits. Reed and Justin Williams had a single apiece.
