Jones authors two-hit shutout, Meridian eliminates Co-Lin 

MERIDIAN – Meridian pitcher Christian Jones threw a two-hit shutout to eliminate the Co-Lin Wolves 10-0 in five innings in the best-of-three NJCAA Region 23 playoff series. The Eagles who won game one 8-6 moves on to the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament at Pearl River Community College next week. The Wolves finish the season 19-24 overall, 15-13 in the conference.

Jones allowed just the two hits, struck out six and walked two to pick up the win for Meridian.

The Eagles scored four runs in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth to run rule the Wolves.

Peyton Parker (West Monroe, LA/West Ouachita High School) absorbed the loss for Co-Lin. He allowed 10 runs (four earned) and eight hits in 3.2 innings of work. Caleb Rutledge relieved Parker in the fourth inning. He struck out one in 0.1 innings. 

Parker and Marquez Hudson (Monticello/Lawrence County) accounted for the two hits for the Wolves. 

At the plate for Meridian, Braden Luke had a home run and a triple and two RBIs. Caleb Dyess tripled and singled for two RBIs. Banks Tolley and Brett Mason had a home run apiece. Hitting safely were Bridley Thomas and Brock Butler.
